Support in Toronto?

I find it is hard to meet others in Toronto who have herpes to share this with and get support.

There is only one support group in a city of 3 million.  I tried going there but I didn’t feel connected.  Anyway, has anyone in the Toronto area ever thought of starting up more support groups here.  People are too quiet about herpes, we need to build strength with each other.

I find going on the herpes dating sites to be extremely frustrating in trying to meet people there.   They either live too far or dont return emails.  Has anyone heard of Hwerks?  There are very few people from Toronto on there.   Toronto is known to be very conservative and the stigma, especially here feels quite high.  Anyway, I feel alone on this subject here in Toronto.

Are there any suggestions in how to break the stigma?

Tell me about it, with a city this size you would think the community would be highly active. I just discovered this blog, I like it. Maybe we can come up with some ideas to galvanize the h-community. marcusowyea@gmail.com

  3. Hi Annie. I am in my early 60’s. I don’t know much about herpes but I’d I’d be interested in your or anyone else’s ideas in perhaps starting another support group perhaps geared to the over 50’s age group, as well. Please contact me at trudy809@hotmail.com

  4. Hi Annie,
I’m not in Toronto, I’m from Ottawa but I was just looking for a group in TO because Ottawa has the same problem so I used http://www.meetup.com to create an Ottawa group. Meet up is an amazing site and the group is starting to take off. One day I would love to connect with a support group in TO or Montréal and actually have members go there to meet each other. So maybe you could use meet up to create a TO group and we could connect. Feel free to check out mine http://www.meetup.com/HSV-HPV-Support-and-Social-Group/ to see what it is all about.

Hi all. It never ceases to amaze me how in a city this size (Toronto) it’s so difficult to meet other “gifted” people. I’ve pretty much given up on dating because of this. I’d also be interested in a social or support group. Let me know at mumstheword09@hotmail.com
